I got a text today from Tracy with this photo and the words "Miss Pink". I realized I was looking at my next dog. I already felt a connection to her and immediately started crying. I'm not usually that emotional but loving and losing Emmi and then the year of research and searching for our next dog and finally seeing her, just made me lose it. Tracy next sent a short video from her APET puppy test. I will do a separate blog on the APET test and share that video but for now, it's one of the tools Tracy uses to determine puppy placement. She gets to know them really well in the weeks leading up to the testing but the test helps her finalize her decision. Tracy knows that I am looking for another dog I can work with to become a therapy dog. She also knows all about Emmi. I shared Emmi's memorial video with her knowing that would give her a good idea of our life with her and what we were looking for. Just like there are no guarantees on getting a dog who does not get cancer, puppy testing is no guarantee of how Miss Pink (name to be decided when we meet her) will turn out or that she will want to be a therapy dog. It is however a good tool and increases the chances that our puppy will have the temperament for a therapy dog.
