LuckyDog Day and Night Care

A special St. Patrick's Treat
A special St. Patrick's Treat

I think ideally you have a team when you get a dog and LuckyDog is an integral part of Izzy's team. She loves going to LuckyDog! She is so happy when we pull into the parking lot. She goes once a week and does Adventure Club. She and several other dogs go to a fenced in area to play and run. Izzy's half-sister, Posey, also goes on Friday. How fun is that? I also learned that they have a big, sweet pitbull that does Adventure Club. They had him try different days because many of the dogs were intimidated by his size (but they said he really is a love). They brought him on Izzy's day, and she was happy to play with him and not intimidated by his size at all. That's our girl. She loves everyone and is great at modifying her play based on who she is playing with. Engaging dogs that need a gentle push to play, playing chase with dogs who love to run and wrestling with dogs who love to tussle. She even ramps down to play with smaller dogs.

In addition to playing (which she loves), she gets to interact with the staff, experience new things and get her training reinforced. For instance, initially she was afraid to get in the van and her crate, but everyone was so patient and that is no longer an issue. She also doesn't like getting bathed but is getting much better after getting a rinse after each outing. She also gets to work on relaxing in a kennel while she waits for us to pick her up.

Bonus: we get to go to our dance class and get a lot of errands done while she is there.

I know I'm biased but is she not the cutest?

Today she participated in a special St. Patrick's Day special event. She got a special Shamrock Shake! This festive treat blends spirulina, peanut butter, and Greek yogurt and an adorable photo shoot. We got all the photos and the cutest report with this poem:

"Izzy set out on a cloudy day, With wagging tail and paws at play. The breeze was cool, the sky was gray, But that just made it a better day. She trotted trails with happy cheer, Chasing scents that wandered near. Through puddles splashing here and there, Her joyful barks filled up the air. A tasty treat came just in time, A lucky snack that felt sublime. With green-day fun and cheer to spare, Her St. Patrick’s Day joy filled the air. With muddy paws and a tired grin, Izzy’s adventure was a win. She curled up warm to end the day, Dreaming of clouds and games at play. 🍀🐾"

I started this blog to share the journey of training my next therapy dog, Izzy. I'll be documenting our activities and experiences, aiming to inform and inspire fellow dog lovers on this rewarding journey. Because I'm passionate about all animals, there will also be posts about other animals, including my cats (Christopher, GrayC and Stitch). Thanks for joining us!
