Piles of Puppies is an amazing program that allows puppies from vetted breeders to visit ill children. Their Mission Statement:

"At Pile of Puppies we believe in our motto: Within Darkness There is Light and Joy Heals.

Our mission is to create Joy Healings by surrounding children who are chronically and terminally ill and their families with a pile of puppies. We have witnessed incredible joy during unimaginably challenging life circumstances.

We know that these joyous memories are seared into the hearts of our POP families and they lean on these memories while moving through pain and grief. This is why we do what we do.

We Believe:

  • Puppies are the perfect example of unconditional love.

  • Puppies give deep presence and never pity.

  • Presence is healing.

  • Joy and pain can reside together.

  • Joy is contagious."

Izzy and her litter made a visit when they were about 7 weeks old. I just felt it was so perfect that my future therapy dog had already done a therapy dog visit before she came home with us! What a great program.

Dedicated to Emmi who challenged everything I thought I knew about dogs and who became the most amazing therapy dog ever.

I started this blog to share the journey of training my next therapy dog, Izzy. I'll be documenting our activities and experiences, aiming to inform and inspire fellow dog lovers on this rewarding journey. Because I'm passionate about all animals, there will also be posts about other animals, including my cats (Christopher, GrayC and Stitch). Thanks for joining us!
