Mission: Meet 100 people

Both our veterinarian and our breeder recommend that puppies meet over 100 people before they turn 16 weeks. I think we have probably exceeded that. Izzy has met lots of different people of different ages. I have encouraged everyone we encounter that looks interested in her, to pet her. We even had a friend invite some of her neighbors over to meet Izzy. I plan on continuing this past 16 weeks and especially more children as really active children still make her a little nervous. Our breeder also recommends they meet other puppies and dogs who are well-behaved and vaccinated. We are attending a weekly puppy play group, organizing play sessions with well-matched puppies and meeting some of my friends' adult dogs. We've also gone several places like the bike path and positioned ourselves where we don't have to interact with other dogs but Izzy can safely see them (bonus she gets to see bikes, electric bikes, skateboards, wheelchairs too).

Dedicated to Emmi who challenged everything I thought I knew about dogs and who became the most amazing therapy dog ever.

I started this blog to share the journey of training my next therapy dog, Izzy. I'll be documenting our activities and experiences, aiming to inform and inspire fellow dog lovers on this rewarding journey. Because I'm passionate about all animals, there will also be posts about other animals, including my cats (Christopher, GrayC and Stitch). Thanks for joining us!
