Emmi was a big snuggler. I loved when she would get up and take a nap on the couch with me. I remember one of the first times she did this. It was after I had tongue surgery at OHSU to remove pre-cancerous cells. I was in so much pain after the surgery. When Emmi got up on the couch and cuddled with me, it was such a comfort.

That surgery was so painful and something I hope to never go through again. I found a new spot under my tongue that felt rough about 6 months ago. I went back up to see my surgeon at OHSU. He thought we should watch it for 6 months. Yesterday was my follow-up appointment. It's a constant worry but the last few weeks I have been really nervous. So off we went to Portland yesterday. This time with Izzy as we can't leave her for that length of time yet. I got good news! The surgeon didn't feel it had changed and while he was willing to remove it if I was really worried, he felt comfortable with me and my dentist monitoring it. No need to return unless there are changes. What a relief! I was really tired last night when we got home. I was on the couch. Izzy was in "baby shark" mode which I knew meant she was tired. All of a sudden, she jumped up on the couch and lay down on me! She gave me a few licks and went to sleep. I was in shock. This was the first time she actually cuddled with me. While she has put her head in my lap before, she hasn't done anything like this. I felt myself relax and let the worry go. I do believe we have a therapy dog!
