Great Discoveries

Every once in a while, I find something new that I find really ingenious or helpful. I wanted to share a couple of them today (btw these are just things I am excited about, I'm not getting any payment to advertise). First, I found this great socialization checklist on one of my animal behavior fb pages. This list is really thorough. Things I would add are sleeping in a different place and any equipment you may want them to use like harnesses. I tried boots on Izzy because one of our goldens and my lab had foot injuries that required they wear a boot. It's also important to note you want to make all of these experiences positive with lots of treats and praise. I make scary things like gun shots positive by saying in a fun tone "yay guns" and treating. I do the same things for bikes, skateboards, scooter, horns, etc.
My next two favorite finds are pocket treat holders and a safety clasp for harnesses.
I was keeping treats in my pockets and would have grease and crumbs in all my pockets and frequently forgot to remove treats before washing. Then one day I came across this dog pocket treat pouch by Woofhoof. Ingenious! I love it. No more crumbs and grease in my pockets and I can easily transfer to the next pair of pants. It has a great magnet to keep it in your pocket, and I can use it in coat pockets too. I still use one that has a hinge I can keep open for more formal training solutions but use this all-other times. https://woofhoof.com/collections/dog-treat-pouches

Last but not least, another ingenious invention, Gentle Creatures Collar Companion. I like to use a harness but worry about the dog getting scared and backing out of it (especially with small, wiggly and slippery puppies). This takes care of that safety issue. It clasps to the harness and then the collar so if the dog backs out of their harness, they are still connected by their collar. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JQ3WYXC?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1
