This and That

Izzy with Baby post play date with Runa.
Izzy with Baby post play date with Runa.

It's been a great start to January. Izzy started a new class, Teenage Social Club, on Thursday. What a great course and perfect for us. We are focusing on calm leash walking and calm greetings. I learned so much in just the first class. Izzy did much better than I anticipated so I think our work is paying off. It was helpful to hear that teen dogs are crazy and to have strategies to work with them. Izzy just loves every dog and every person and sniffing everything. I've been trying to keep Izzy from pulling on walks and it has been a losing battle. Our homework is to work on leash manners and waiting with the leash attached to her collar in locations she can be successful. For walking where we aren't working on leash manners, we clip her leash to her harness instead of the collar. Feeling re-energized to work on training with her now.

Izzy had Adventure Club on Friday and had a blast, and we got to go to our dance class and get shopping and errands done while she was there. Definitely a win-win! Today, she had a great play date with Runa. Tomorrow, she gets to play with Iylah. There are days I feel like her social planner!

Runa didn't let a little bit of mud stop her.

I spent some time doing indoor portraits of Izzy for this week. Here are my favorites.

My very favorite.

I started this blog to share the journey of training my next therapy dog, Izzy. I'll be documenting our activities and experiences, aiming to inform and inspire fellow dog lovers on this rewarding journey. Because I'm passionate about all animals, there will also be posts about other animals, including my cats (Christopher, GrayC and Stitch). Thanks for joining us!
