The Hunted House

ree

Now this was fun! Orchard Point Kennels has a Hunted House. They have their barn decorated and have treats hidden in plastic eggs that are on haybales or hanging from the stalls, a shell game with spooky cups and a variation of bobbing for apples using a kiddie pool and balls. After the course, we got to pick a costume and get photos. What a fun and amazing socialization activity. A new location, new smells, decorations, haybales, a new person, nose work and more. Ryan, who owns the kennel and is also a trainer, led us through and worked with Emmi at each station. She figured out the eggs had treats after the first one. She was so excited and started looking for the plastic eggs right away. She got right into the kiddie pool and started sniffing around for treats. I am amazed at how confident Izzy is in new situations. A dog barked and growled at her on our way to the barn and she simply kept walking. I am so thankful for all the work Tracy put in to ensure we got an amazing dog who is perfect for us!

Dedicated to Emmi who challenged everything I thought I knew about dogs and who became the most amazing therapy dog ever.

I started this blog to share the journey of training my next therapy dog, Izzy. I'll be documenting our activities and experiences, aiming to inform and inspire fellow dog lovers on this rewarding journey. Because I'm passionate about all animals, there will also be posts about other animals, including my cats (Christopher, GrayC and Stitch). Thanks for joining us!
