Getting a bath before our first official therapy visit!
Getting a bath before our first official therapy visit!

We have received our therapy dog tag and certificate and our ID badge for the Airport and are going on our first official visit to the Airport on Sunday!

We are also busy practicing her new tricks for her visit. We've been working on curtsy and wave. She's got wave down and is making good progress with curtsy. We plan on adding more tricks she can do like Bang! Play Dead and Peek-a-Boo. So many fun possibilities. We have had so much fun in our Tricks class!

We decided a bath was in order for her first big visit. Izzy hadn't been to the Laundromutt since she was a puppy and we brought her for a bath as part of her socialization and exposure program. She did great although it was apparent it wasn't the funnest thing we've done.

I'm getting all of our Izzy swag together and making sure we have everything we need for her first visit. She has her therapy dog vest and dress harness and leash. I have a vest as well and a name tag. I also carry a lint roller in case someone is wearing a dark color and wants to get her hair off of their pants and clean-up stuff in case of an accident. I also carry grooming pads and will give her a quick wipe down before and after her visit.

I am so excited! I think Izzy is going to rock this!

I started this blog to share the journey of training my next therapy dog, Izzy. I'll be documenting our activities and experiences, aiming to inform and inspire fellow dog lovers on this rewarding journey. Because I'm passionate about all animals, there will also be posts about other animals, including my cats (Christopher, GrayC and Stitch). Thanks for joining us!
